Berdin could be an option too, but there are a lot of similar goalies who have NHL experience that will probably be available like Vanecek or Hill. Strangely, Winnipeg doesn't have many options to chose from (Stanley, Niku, Harkins, etc.)

No need to make a side deal. If the Jets protect Copp and Lowry, then Appleton is at risk. On defense it is either DeMelo or Stanley at risk and Berdin and Brossoit in net?

Would you trade a first and a prospect for any one of Appleton, DeMelo, Berdin or Brossoit? If the answer is no, then no side deal needed.
