Description

Colorado is looking for young defensemen and prospects. They said they would be willing to trade Duchene or Landeskog.

I know this leaves the Ducks weak on defense, but they aren't Cup contenders this year anyway, and they will still be left with two great prospects who will be ready in a year or two.

This also helps the expansion situation. If they keep:

Getzlaf, Perry, Kesler, Duchene, Rakell, Silfverberg, Cogliano
and
Lindholm, Manson, Folwer, Gibson

I don't think the Ducks are left weak on defense at all. Still have a couple excellent defenseman back there, and the production they get with Duchene is worth a lot more to them than Vatanen.

Vermette doesnt have to be held for expansion. A clause within the contract states when the NMC changes to NTC

So Stoner, Theodore and Vatanen and Sakic does this why. Erik Johnson and Barrie are already on the right side so why would Colorado need Vatanen unless Barrie is moved to another team.
