This seems like an overpay, especially when there's no real incentive in acquiring a forward with term with the expansion draft looming. I have to think the Leafs are going to go with a 4-4-1 and protect their top 4 D (who would have guessed Holl would have made the cut?!). Adding a forward like Jenner means they either lose Jenner or Holl as opposed to likely just losing Kerfoot.

I see your point but ultimately, if the leafs are going for it this season they shouldnt get deterred from acquiring a good player because of the expansion draft. We saw with Vegas that it is possible to pay a bit of draft capitol to the expansion team in exchange for them picking a specific player from your roster (I assume we'd want them to take Kerfoot's contract)

I just think the cost is far greater than the upgrade in this case. I would also be concerned about Toronto's depth at LD with Dermott gone. Sandin already dealing with an injury and we traded Lehtonen already so we're dangerously close to Marincin cracking the top 6 again...
