Retires on LTIR. Not a guarantee but it's interesting to consider all posibilities. If not, I figure we'll try and move him to Seattle

Détails additionnels:
Rumored Koski + Jones package for Merzlikins. This is probably the highest value I'd consider. Maybe a 1st instead of Rodrigue and the 2nd

I was trying to work Domi into the trade somehow but I'm not sure what that would look like. Probably wouldn't make any sense

    Nurse, Bear, Lagesson

    Skinner (Merzlikins is expansion exempt)

Available (Under contract): Russell, Turris, Kassian

UFA: Larsson (This plan assumes he isn't selected/holds out to resign), Barrie, Ennis are the only notables. They probably test free agency

RFA: Kahun, Benson. Seattle only picks these guys if they are willing to sign. I doubt either go. Maybe Kahun

I'll say they take Turris but it doesn't matter. Whoever is selected won't impact us. This is the benifit of trading Jones and waiving/trading Stalock. This also assumes Klef is unfortunately out for good or exempt from expansion

Everyone should know that Bear isn’t a first pairing defence man. He may of played first pair before, but he’s not good enough. I rather pay the extra for Barrie! He’s better than Bear is. I’m not a big Bear fan, so I wouldn’t be sad if he was the one to go, and it may be that way if he can get both Barrie, and Larsson under an extension.

You should look at the facts.

Bear plays more against Elites and gets better results: PuckIQ

Bear played 1st pairing last year too, Barrie was 3rd pairing. This year both have played extensively with Darnell Nurse, a quick look at their results shows that Bear is superior in everything except for luck: NST Defensive Pairs

You don't have to like Bear, but there's no rational argument to be made to trade him to make room to sign a worse defender who's on the wrong side of the aging curve.

You should try making an ACGM for a scenario where Neal stays on LTIR, the money needs to go somewhere

There are TONS of options with Neal on LTIR - the Oilers would have over $30M in cap space with their on-roster RFA's signed:

You could go in all sorts of directions, but one thing I would caution against is giving out term, for the simple reason that the 2022 UFA class is MUCH deeper and MUCH better. I'd make sure there was space to sign Forsberg and maybe Seth Jones / Colton Parayko in 2022.

    Here's my rendition: https://www.capfriendly.com/forums/thread/431766
