You're right, two years of Hjalmarsson, until Dermot and Nielsen are ready (hopefully) might be a good fit for the Leafs. Hawks seems to lots of young 5,6,7 Dmen and I wonder if Carrick. is who they would want. Inexpensive forwards such as Soshikov, Rychel, Lindberg might be desirable. Thinking the Isles might want more....but. likely a forward or two. Maybe hometown Bracco.
If Bibeau keeps up that stellar play.....two games, four goals allowed, he might be taken by Vegas.

I was thinking Carrick because they do need to replace Hjalmarsson on the back end but I see what your saying about the cheap forwards.
As for the Pulock trade by the time you get to the expansion draft it's not about what you want it's what the market will pay for him because the Islanders need to protect him, which they most likely can't, and getting something is better than nothing.
And the more I look at the protection list the less I see Vegas taking Bibeau. There are too many better goaltenders to take in his place. Fleury isn't the Goalie he used to be but is still a top 15 goalie, in my opinion, just having a rough year, Columbus has to expose Korposalo or Bobrovsky, and I think Rannta is closer to his prime with more upside and Subban just has more upside.

Why in the world do you think Hjalmarsson will accept a trade to the Leafs? Also out of all teams in the league, if that's all you can give for Hjalmarsson, a lot of teams will offer more. Jokipakka, Poirier, a 2nd, and Chiasson are a lot more, and I doubt that's even enough. It's just a lot more than your trade.

I don't know how Hjalmarsson's M-NTC works but why not the Leafs? They have an outside chance at the playoffs this year and should make them next year with a few minor upgrades (defence) which would be him. I'm trying to figure out the value for him. It's complicated because Chicago needs to make a move to be cap compliant which lowers his value a little but he's still an excellent defenceman that should bring in a decent hull. Carrick is an up and coming dman, who is cheap next year and cheaper for the foreseeable future and Chicago should like the picks because they draft and develop extremely well. I will however concede that the Leafs will probably need to add a young NHL ready forward to the deal. Like Rychel, Leivo, or Leipsic.
