Trade Stepan For The Love Of

Équipe: 2015-16 Rangers de New York
Date de création initiale: 16 juill. 2015
Publié: 16 juill. 2015
Mode - plafond salarial: Basique
Description
Trading Stepan and Fast gives San Jose some future options. They have to give up Hertl to get the deal done, but Thornton has been nothing but a pain for them to handle, and clearly neither Joe himself nor the team are very happy about him being in San Jose. The Sharks get his enormous contract off the books, but Thornton re-connects with Nash in New York to form an amazing center-winger duo. Hertl joins them as a complimentary winger. Besides, Stepan was too slow for AV's system anyway.

Arizona gets Boyle to help them with veteran defense leadership, but we all know he is past his prime in terms of playing. His contract comes off the books in one year though, and his cap hit helps them remain above the cap floor.

Thornton is not getting traded. It's ultimately his say, and he's made it clear that he's staying in SJ (for certain at least for the next 2 years).

We'll take Nash though! In fact...

This is a joke. Stepan too slow for AV's system? Like that guy said above, Thornton isn't? Also, just giving Dan Boyle on the last year of his deal away for absolutely nothing, then moving Klein up in that 2nd pairing and having McIlrath up? What???? Girardi, Klein, McIlrath would arguably be the worst group of RD in the NHL. Girardi is terrible, Klein is nothing more than a replacement level 6th Dman who had a ton of shooting luck this year, and McIlrath can't skate, can't drive possession, can't produce offense, and probably will be nothing more than a 6th Dman in the NHL in a few years.

If I could give less than 1 star, I would, just brutal.

@ant_tripod3 klein is a replacement? Pretty sure he saved Sather after the horrific decision to ink Boyle to two years at that kind of cap hit. The thinking behind sending Boyle to Arizona was obviously just a way to get him out of NY, there'd have to be more involved there, but I'm sure Arizona would take on a contract like in a transition year. And Stepan is way too slow. Let's face it, where's the arrival, or the breakout, of Stepan? Thornton may not be that fast but he knows how to pass the puck. Stepan has never been and never will be a first line center.
