By my math we would have $17.3mill the following offseason with this plan. Nurse at roughly $7.5mill, Bear at $3.5mill, Pulju around $2mill, Lagesson probably gets a bridge around $1.5mill comes out to $14.5mill. Giving this a range, I'd we likely have to spend $13 - 16mill to keep all these guys. That leaves between $1.3 and $4.3mill to sign 2 roster players and a backup goalie. Currently I'd estimate it at being $2.5mill left over for those signings. It could work, but imo it's cutting it too close. Sign Tatar/McD's LW to a 1 year deal. If it works out. trade away a guy like Kassian or dump Neal to make room for all the signings. This is why I'm a big advocate for dumping Neal, it makes situations like this much much simpler

If they can't pawn Neal off on someone, I think the play is buy-out him out in summer 2022. Let him play next season, and then buy-out afterwards, don't want 4 years of dead cap from a buy-out. Cap hit would be $1.95m for 22-23 and 23-24, so savings of almost $4m in 22-23.

I think Puljujarvi will be getting much more than $2m AAV on his next deal as well.

$2mill in dead cap till 2025 would be a nightmare agreed. A 2022-23 Neal buyout makes some sense if we can't dump him by then. Maybe we'd even consider retaining half and dumping him that year to avoid a penalty in 23-24

Turris and neal are buried. Neal's final year gets bought out freeing up another 2.7 Million and turris contract expires freeing up another 0.5 million.

I think neal could be dumped at any time especially if he has just 1 year left. You wont get Tatar for a 1 year contract i dont think.

Yeah, maybe they could get rid of Neal in his final season somehow to a rebuilding team if they attach a somewhat intriguing piece.

Agree on Tatar, I don't see him doing 1 year deal. More likely a 3year deal at minimum.

To me Tyler Benson and a third rounder is something We could give away without much regret to move neal,
