Pernell and Johnson....these guys aren't going to be on Seattle unless 1st round picks are coming with them.
It's impossible to take any draft seriously when you don't consider the cap dump trade route. As Seattle will be swallowing cap for teams.
It says Seattle receives first round pick for Johnson. PK has one year left and isn't that bad, Devils would probably have to give a 3rd but not much.
It was hard between Bellows and Bailey but the Isles need to save money
Yeah 100% agree with you on that. I could potentially see Bailey being traded before leaving him exposed but it could hard to find a deal with the whole cap situation that's unfolding. Well done on this whole thing by the way it's really solid overall I gotta say

why would seattle take 9 million for a 3rd. They can easily use that cap space to take in 1-2 1st round picks.
There are so many guys that could be moved for 1sts. Hell the penguins would offer Matheson, who is a better player, and a 2nd and that's 4 million in cap space to take on Neal from EDM or Lucic from CGY, for a 1st. Both guys who got 2 years left.
Especially with the cap going up in 2 seasons. The league will be flush with money after those TV deals are signed. Taking on 4-5 bad contracts most of which end in 2 years will be nothing to collect 4-5 1st round picks.

I tried to limit the amount of deals because they are unpredictable. Seattle's defense looks very weak and Subban would be low risk high reward for them. Plus he would be a good marketing player. Lucic has a NMC and I don't see him waiving. Oilers fans rather buyout Neal

why would EDM buyout Neal, that's carrying 2 million for 4 years.
and Pernell has been a locker room cancer. Why would a new team want that. They don't have to worry about a player for marketing.
Yes deals can be unpredictable but their ability to help teams in a flat cap world is something they aren't going to pass up on. Especially when most of those deals are only 2 years long.

I saw a bunch of Oilers fans saying that. PK is the opposite of a locker room cancer. He's being a great mentor for the young players in NJ

At this moment not sure which will be protected tbh. Lagesson is the defensive stalwart type I think the team needs more than Jones, whose skills replicate a lot of what other EDM dmen do already (namely Nurse, Bear, Klef if he comes back, and Broberg in a couple of years). Just depends who is better down the stretch.

Offensive potential? Jones for sure. But Lagesson could be a key shutdown guy for a long time. With Bouchard, Nurse, Broberg, and perhaps even one or both of Barrie/Klef around still depending on management decisions, offensive from the back end will not be in short supply for the Oil. But defensive zone okay will be really key, especially if Larsson isn't kept.
