So the Avs give up the 2nd or first line C that the Habs need to be real contenders. The Habs give up a young cheaper winger who is under contract for 4 more years. He's in a bit of a slump and maybe needs a change of scenery to get him going. They also get a D-man who'll be ready, I suspect, next year or the year after to eat up some solid minutes. They take Desharnais to make the cap work and I could probably be talked into throwing in an extra pick or B level prospect to fair it up some more.

Thoughts?

Oh and Habs fans, I would only do this if I knew I could and would resign Radulov.

Value is pretty close but It would only create more holes. I think the Avs are on the brink of a mini rebuild as well so they would want Sergachev.

Sergy instead of Juulson? That's a wee bit more of a hard sale for the Habs, but it might be doable. We don't have a lot coming up to replace Markov.

Is that because you would not move Duchene at all, or is it an issue with the offer?

Is the best player in the deal Duchene? Yup.

Could this trade deal actually work out really well for Colorado. Possibly.

They won't do it and I would agree with that but people underestimate the importance of Gallagher to MTL. He's one of those guys that will never get the credit he deserves.

Last year Gallagher was the grit, heart, soul and sandpaper of the Habs offense. I think he's been at least partially replaced in that role by Radulov, which is why I said I wouldn't do this unless I knew I could resign Radulov.

My whole thinking is that in order to get quality you need to give quality, and of the Hab's top forwards, he is the one they could most easily get rid of right now. I don't think they'll trade - or at least, they shouldn't trade - Pacioretty until Galchenyuk is back. Radulov isn't going anywhere. Plekanec has too low a value. Shaw? Menh. Who else could they offer up that's young, cheap, controlled for a few years, and a decent scorer? Bryon is a glorified 3rd liner, Danault hasn't done enough to have major trade value (yet?).

I agree with you. Just pointing out that Colorado won't do it more then likely because they don't understand how important a player like Gallagher is to a team. The only reason we can afford to lose him would be because the return is good and some new players have made his skill set less important this year to the team. Shaw, Radulov, Carr, etc

Make no mistake about it though. I only trade Gallagher unless I'm absolutely sure we're getting a stud back.

And we can resign Radu. Because I don't think Shaw and Carr alone would fill the gap.
