Quoting: Watty1
Certainly an interesting thought process, I can see where you are going with this.
If I may make a few critiques.
1. I'm sorry, but there is no way the Blues are trading Barbashev & a 1st for Edler. Unfortunately for Canucks fans, Edler a) doesn't want to waive his NTC and b) isn't the d-man he used to be. On a good team now he is probably a low end #2 or high end #3
2. I wouldn't go anywhere near $4.25m for Gudbranson at this moment. I'd trade him before paying him that.
3. Markov and Streit are basically the same guy; we only need to pick one, but certainly an interesting idea!
Otherwise cool trades! Certainly some food for thought. I want to see them get some impact pieces - unfortunately I can't see Detroit parting with Mantha, but certainly if we can trade our vets for picks and young players that would be ideal.
Streit and Markov are similar only reason I had them both in their on a one year at those prices was to reach the cap floor. There would have to be a player or 2 overpaid to reach the cap floor also why Gudbranson has a Tanev type pay. I think Gudbranson will be a great D the second half he will be better and he isn't that bad now, the team as a whole is bad.
You hit the nail on the head Edler as a 2/3 dmen would excel, he wont be relied on as he is now, which in turn will make him a better all round dman. That's when he excelled the most in Van as a 2/3 and the price for those are high now but will be even higher after the expansion draft as their will be less quality dman to go around. As for the Blues they may loose Shattenkirk to ufa and Gunnarsson to expansion and unless the want to overpay long term on a ufa, where the pool is looking like slim pickings, Edler at that price is a steal. Barbashev isn't their to prospect either, I think both Edler and Tanev could and should garner much higher returns then what I posted. The Hansen proposal is actual a lot in favour of the Canucks.
The Sedins are a tricky deal, I don't believe there are too many teams that would take them both on even at half price, if that where to happen hopefully something decent could be had. Detroit depending on how much they believe they could be Cup contenders with the Sedin may offer up Manta. He is off to a good start but this has happened many times with young players then they come back down to earth ala McCann. If they believe it brings them a Cup then it may be worth it. I see the Preds as another possibility.
Thanks to the expansion draft this year tdl and nhl draft will be an exciting for trades. I'm looking forward to it
