I think the value is there maybe, but Hamonic won't want to leave. He only requested a trade to be closer to an ill family member in Canada, then when the problem passed (however it did) He immediately rescinded his trade request and made it clear he wanted to stay. I also know that Garth Snow was charging WAY too much for him before, and I don't see that changing. Hamonic is at a very reasonable contract for the Islanders while - with the way that Hamilton is playing - Hamilton is just not showing he's worth the money. I just think with Tavares' contract expiring soon that taking on more cap would not be the smartest thing and Garth would see this too.
Also, Strome spent time in the minors last year because he just wasn't living up to the standards that the Isles wanted, and he may have begun to rebound, but I feel a change of scenery would almost definitely set him back to the point you'd see him slotting in on the third and more likely fourth lines, in which case you have a player on the fourth line and possibly scratched for two years who's making 2.5 million dollars.
The value may be there, but I don't think the trade is really what either team is looking at, since Calgary only feels comfortable trading Hamilton because of the defensive pipeline they're investing in.
