Kapanen went for a first and for a goalie who could be the final piece in a cup winning puzzle for only $1mil on his salary this year I think that looks awfully tempting from a team with a smaller financial budget.

I don't understand why Cains fans are so against Freddy, with that D in front of him and not Ceci for 25 minutes a night, only having to start 45-50 games and not 60 I think they'd be very close to a cup.

The finance in itself is worth the plus and Freddy is worth a first. That is what so many are not factoring in to this years dealings. Contracts that have been front loaded with minimal to pay compared to cap hit will be huge in teams makeup especially ones on a small budget like Arizona, Columbus Carolina and Florida.

If you believe JR drives value ratings in the NHL, I cant help you. Dubas asked for a high return for his asset and JR was dumb enough to take it. It is widely agreed that JR was dumb to trade the 15OA for Kapanen. It is a value anomaly not the trend.

I agree Dubas had JR's pants down but Freddy isn't a 3rd line winger, he's a starting goaltender with a decent cap hit and a very low cost contract for the rest of the year, just what the Cains need!
