Description
So far today, we heard rumors the islanders are having talks with Brassard and Greiss is going to free agency.

With Maata going to LA it looks like Leddy going there is done and with so few teams with cap space (and willing to spend it) the isles are going to over pay regardless of who the try to move to create cap space.

If I’m giving up a lot of assets, I’d rather see Boychuk leave than Leddy. We have Dobson and Wilde as the RHD future while our LHD side is light. Especially if Greene leave in FA. (Although we can afford that happening if we keep Leddy.)

What other moves do you thing the islanders make to become cap compliant?

I think Lou is going to beat up his RFA’s for every nickel and dime while bridge dealing Barzal and Toews.

Is this a large enough haul to move boychuk without retention?, and would devils fans want to do this for the picks and prospects.

Happy Mayhem Week

I’d rather retain 500 k on Leddy and even give up a 3rd if necessary to trade him. I don’t think that will be the case, it’s rumored that Leddy can fetch up to a 2nd rd pick.

I’m afraid with how few teams have 6mil in cap space open it’s going to be crazy how much moving cap is going to cost. It will be a bidding war to take cap. The isles have the extra B/A-prospects that other teams might not be willing to give up. We might have to use them to save ourselves.

What do you think they do with their LHD situation, Greene might have other bidders willing to spend more and is it worth having Dobson play on his opposite side again?

I feel like this package would be to move a guy like Ladd tho, JB can still play hes just overpaid and has no spot here anymore plus hes only owed $5.25M in actual money over the next 2 years so it might be doable especially if we just take a LTIR contract like Kesler or Gaborik

They should trade Leddy and if Greene doesn’t re-sign, I’m sure they can find a cheap UFA LHD . Dobson should not play on his offside.

I don’t think this will happen, but if the isles decide to trade toews and keep Leddy, they deserve to miss the playoffs next season

I agree Toews is your long term middle paid LHD and allows Mayfield to play his role more effectively. (Like Pelech and Pulock)

My concern is either still having 4 RHD next season if boychuk stays, and how much it will cost if you have to get rid of both.

Not to mention seeing how the defensive depth can handle it, does Hickey slot back into 3LHD or do we look elsewhere.

    I can’t stand mayfield - I think he sucks.

I forgot about hickey - if he’s not traded I would be comfortable slotting him on the 3rd pair
