Oh ok.
Looking at their prospect pool and amount of picks they have I thought maybe they would be a team that would try and restock their cupboards with more picks

Very unlikely Habs do that. Drafts are gambles on prospects as is and they reduce as you get into deeper rounds. Especially the odds I’d say of 5-7th rounders maturing and making it. Very rarely do you see 3 draft picks traded for 1 draft pick. If Washington was to give up their first pick, they’d want a roster player or prospect that could help plus a 2nd rounder. I could see the capitals giving up their first pick though - their future is now with ovechkin clock running out.

The reason mtl would do this is they’re not going to be able to sign all their picks and prospects as they’ll be over the limit packages for a higher pick makes absolute sense in their case

They have 9 spots and they’ve issued 5 qualifying offers leaving 4 if all sign. Some of their picks can go to the reserve list but not likely the ones in the first couple rounds

They are on record of trying to trade Hudon to keep a spot in the nhl for him - If not, Hudon is unlikely to resign or accept and will play in Europe so that’s one more.
I also would not be surprised to see Mete traded.

Ya I see a lot of potential of Bergevin trading picks and players packaged together for an upgrade on the wing. That will create room for sure.
If they move the 16th and made a trade like this with Washington they could still get a player they like such as
Gunler, Bourque, JJP, Perrault, Amirov, Reichel, Greig at
25OA as apposed tge 16th
