Thinking outside the box Ways Leaf's could buy more cap room

1. Leaf's Sign a player like Tylor Hall to a front loaded/signing bonus contract $9.5M * 7 years. 1st year salary around $14M with $13M of it paid Oct 9th.
2. Other NHL team signs say TJ Brodie (or other RHD) to $6.5M deal and trades him to the Leafs retaining $2.5M in AVV

Only one problem. Under the CBA, if a UFA is signed for the purpose of being traded to another team, and has not played a game for the original signing team, thats cap circumvention.

Even if some rules aren't in the CBA teams can/will be punished for obvious cap circumvention.
