Wonder if Carlyle is hoping to keep Fowler. Sounds like the return isn't enough for what Murray wants so it might be better to keep him for now and see if you can get a young, ok level propsect for Despres.

Despres is a decent 2nd pairing guy and as long as he has gotten over his concussion issues (which he said he has) could be a steal for a team like NJ looking for defense.

Stoner and a 2nd for Carolina is a cap dump. I know most people are saying it would take a prospect, but I think Carolina gets a serviceable bottom pairing guy and a decent pick. They are rebuilding and that would give them 4 picks in the first two rounds.

This also gives the Ducks enough cap space that they could swing a prospect and pick trade for a LW if Ritchie doesn't stick. Something like Tatar for Montour and a pick?
