You said it yourself, "WPG gets their solid 2C without sacrificing one of their 5 best forwards". Montreal isn't going to trade Danault just for the sake of trading him UNLESS this is at the trade deadline and it's been established that Danault and Montreal aren't going to come to terms.

That's only 750K more for a player who has proven he is more consistent than Tuch and would certainly perform up to his 18-19 season playing with Patch and Stone or Marchessault and Smith... not so sure about Tuch being the best player in there. Might not work but value wise it's pretty close.

Unfortunately I don't think habs acquire a 1RW for Danault straight up... and personally I think it's better value to trade him for futures (already having stastny as 3C). I'd rather bet on Vesalainen becoming a 2LW + having a pick around 20 than trading for a 50pt 2nd line winger.

Look at the horrid depth on habs' RW... these are balanced lines, he could play on the 3rd line for all i care, it has no impact on the player he actually is
