I know!!!! Lol! Typical on this site people don’t read!!! If you just look at my comments in the team explanation I think this trade has zero chance of happening but I wanted to see what it would look like on our end

May I ask which Leafs fan came up with this trade so the committee can get together and vote (likely unanimously) to remove this person from our fanbase.

Look back in the archives I can’t remember. I’ve seen worse honestly and I see the logic behind it but it only works if Karlsson is healthy and playing at the level he was a few years ago

He’s not that old still 29 just lazy and if we make time travel we stop the trade from ever happening!

It’s interesting for sure in theory, but this really doesn’t help our cap situation a ton. It would be great to have Marner, but I also think he’s thrived in Toronto because of his line mates. Not to say his stats are completely inflated in TOR, but he wouldn’t be putting up the same 80-90 points in SJ.

If Karlsson was playing like we all know he can (like he did in Ottawa where he carried that team on his back) the funny thing is Toronto would win this trade because it would give them a better balance and a power play to be scared of! But with him playing uninterested and lazy like he has been in San Jose this trade is lousy for toronto.

Karlsson even on ottawa isn't worth Marner. Marner is a 90+ point forward that plays in all situations. Karlsson is a 1 dimensional player that can't defend for the life of him. There's not 1 Leaf I'd current trade for Karlsson. Plus Leafs already have 1 of if not THEEE most dangerous PP in the league without Karlsson. He's not needed here.

Ehhh I’d disagree that your team wouldn’t be exponentially better with the Karlsson of 4 years ago. Your team would suck with this trade at Karlsson current level of play.

I would 100% take current Marner over 4 years ago Karlsson. No questions asked. Period.

Yes agreed marner is the better player never would I argue that.... but your team could use Karlsson of 4 years ago over marner now. I am not crazy here I swear, you guys are overflowing with offensive forward talent making the amazing quality of Marner less necessary and you guys are lacking a stud top pair offensive defenseman to quarterback the power play and add a different facet to your team.
The value of Karlsson of old on your team outweighs the amazing play of marner. Now had you guys not had Matthews Tavares Nylander Johnson and Kap I would say different.
