So now pesce has to be retained for years to get Anderson. Wow these canes leafs trades only get worse. Since u haven’t figured it out yet I’ll let u know that the canes will not be trading pesce for Anderson

Except the canes aren't trading Pesce for Anderson! They are trading Pesce for Anderson ($1mil retained), a 2nd, a 3rd, and a prospect. And they aren't retaining Salary on Pesce, Ottawa is. That seems like pretty decent value for him IMO

It’s absolutely terrible value. The value of pesce to the canes is similar to the value of Nylander to the leafs. Pesce is on an amazing contract and is a great shutdown defender. The package for him is far far more than 1 year of Anderson an at best C level prospect, and 2 picks neither being a 1st. If the canes were to trade pesce it would be to make a huge upgrade elsewhere and this isn’t it. Is Anderson somewhat of an upgrade for a year? Yes. But it is also a bigger downgrade to the canes defense

its isn't sensible for Carolina, it fills a small hole by making a bigger one

I see what you're both saying. I didn't realize his value was so high. assuming a first is off the table and so are any of the leafs top 6, what do you think could be added? Liljigren?

No not really any deal involving pesce would involve bring back a big upgrade to the canes top 6. The only player that does that is Nylander, which leafs fans would not want to move

There isn't really, Carolina is looking to improve their team for this season not get futures. They already have good defensive prospects and they have the 13th. . I know Pesce would be great for Toronto but Carolina is known for their D-core and Waddell said he wants to keep it together since its the strength of the team. They are looking to acquire a top 6 LW or a 1RW since that was the only weakness of the team in playoffs. The goaltending was phenomenal in playoffs and I don't see Carolina trading Pesce for anything less than a bona fide top 6 winger
