I personally think the leafs should pass on Pietrangelo as they would have to trade their depth to make space. Also, with the flat cap happening over the next few seasons Pietrangelo's cap hit may hinder the leafs from resigning players as well as signing quality depth. I rather attempt to make a trade to acquire a RHD at a lower cap hit or sign 2 quality defenders in free agency over 1 superstar. But if they decide to sign Pietrangelo I'm curious to see how the roster would look. This is what I think the roster could look like on opening day if they sign him. Also, I think Liljegren will be a Top 4 D but not sure if he will be ready to make the jump next season.

If Engvall is not performing to expectations at 3C you can have Spezza fill the role. Move Simmonds to 4RW and Engvall to 4LW.

Also, do you think the leafs would try to sign Mikko Koivu instead of Thornton as 4c or somebody completely else?
