There are certainly worse ideas on here than this. The only issue is Toronto really needs a top pair RD and would rather trade more for what they really need than less for half a solution. I think this deal would make more sense in a three team trade where Larsson and another player from Toronto go somewhere else to get a guy like Ekholm. possibly Puljujarvi goes to the third team also.

We don't want Larsson, especially at that salary. JP intrigues though, but that is a risk as well.

it depends if they can get dermott cheap enough he has potential to be a top 4 guy and has some experience on the right side he is a good guy to have on your team for 2mill ish and if leafs can get 2 RD they might think of trading holl to free up 2 mill

I'm not sure why people are down on Dermott. He has a lot of potential, they just need to stop moving him around so much and let him play.

Larsson is a RD and a defensive one at that. I think he may be a good pairing with Reilly. JP would be an interesting forward option, better than anything we can get with the 2nd round pick.

If Adam Larsson is your top pairing Rd, you haven't solved your defensive problem. You've just done some damage control. And they thought they were doing that with Barrie and Ceci.

You wont have the assets or the money to do it in this order. I would focus on moving a big contract and getting a top pairing guy first. Then you'll know where you stand to make this deal or not.

Larsson is a proven commodity and may be just the piece to allow Reilly to be free. Given the winger depth, I think it is worth a shot. We still have the ability to trade one of the big 4 for a potential LT fit in the future if it doesn’t work.
