Description
2020 draft based on draftside version 28 mock draft rankings...

2nd round pick: Helge Grans RD
3rd round pick: Daniel Torgersson RW
5th round pick: if available Brandon Coe RW if unavailable Theodore Niederbach C
6th round pick: Glebs Prohorenkovs C
7th round pick: Nico Daws G

bruins still have 6.25m cap in this scenario to work others into the lineup bring back chara or krug etc. Allows for mcavoy or carlo to get an early extension as well. can bump either debrusk or grz up but i dont think im off that much with either player.

Would be crazy to see buuuuuttttt what if they offersheet cirelli and trade krejci who has 1 year left on his deal.

It doesnt matter. He’s signed for next year.

it does. kase/krejci/rask/carlo all up at the same time. you wanna use every penny here so every dollar counts. I want to keep a competitive roster while balancing cost. I dont want to be in the chiarelli situation from 3 years ago. where they give up colin miller for nothing, give up boychuk because of iginlas bonuses. You really think Krug signs a deal here to play in seattle next year? have you listened to anything hes said coming up to FA? theres almost NO chance Krug signs a deal without expansion protection which means you lose grz.

Woah woah woah. Where are you getting any of this? Lost miller for nothing? First off, he’s awful. Second off, he was picked by an expansion team. Gave away boychuk? They ditched him because he was mediocre and was about to get paid. Guess who now has a horrible contract? Oh ya, boychuk.

No, next years cap has literally nothing to do with Carlo or McAvoy extensions. No, the bruins can’t give McAvoy an early extension, he isn’t eligible. You think they can just tear up Carlo’s contract and say, “hey here’s more money?” Cannot be done. Not allowed. Not a concept that exists with this CBA.

If you’ve got six million bucks, and you’re a cup contender, you better either have the best team in NHL history with zero holes, or you bettter go get a player. You want to sign them for one year? Sure. Go ahead. I’m sure there will be plenty of free agents looking for a one year deal with so much cap uncertainty down the road.

Chiarelli had some cap issues for sure (not really, it was simple as trading an RFA and a 6 million dollar player. Done), but the aggressiveness of spending to the cap got him this big shiny thing.

Dollars in 20-21 have zero to do with 21-22 unless there’s a cap overage. There won’t be. Go get a player.

hes awful but when traded they got a 2nd and a 5th for him. not bad for an awful player... instead they lost him to seattle for nothing oh and the guy they kept over him might literally never play again.

great! find me that player and who they are starting over? if they werent in such a bad way with the cap whyd they get rid of backes for a first and retain on his deal? coulda just kept his $$ at that rate. You know what spending to the cap signing players gets you? john moore at 2.75 for 4 more years. it gets you depth guys for way more than they are worth. What free agent are you getting to come in here and who are they playing over. im intrigued. gimme names on who actually signs for 6m on a 1 year deal for the bruins. I think the ONLY player that would do that that you arent giving a significant bump to that likely doesnt deserve it is krug. and im not even sure he takes a 1 year deal. hoffman, hall, petro, dadanov, toffoli, barrie, all get long term deals. the lesser market: namestnikov, granlund, ennis, fast, gustafsson are still going to get money. granlund less than his current deal gustafsson more. just because the cap stayed flat this year and next year doesnt mean other teams dont have space to spend.

Wanna sign depth players go for it. but dont over extend yourself on depth players. 1 year deals to guys like granlund might make sense but again where are you playing him? put him in over studnicka who looks pretty damn good in the ahl... you putting him over bjork who ide rather see get the minutes? how about kase? you arent signing granlund to be your 4th liner so again where are you playing these signings. leave the space for your future stars so you can keep a perenial contender moving forward.

NOBODY wanted to move boychuk when he was traded. He was the only player they could move that made money that would return value and wouldnt gut the team. And it actually did. you ended up having to play matt bartkowski for 47 games, kevan miller missed half the year as usual and mcquaid missed 20 games. They were missing the 4th dman all year that year and ended up 5th in the atlantic. Then 15-16 comes and it gets even worse when they trade for rinaldo, sign beleskey, and hayes...

Luckily that boychuk trade net us Carlo so it wasnt all bad.

No what i want is to not have a player or players making that 6.25m cap space so that we can save it for carlos next deal in 2021 or have some wiggle room if kase lights it up next year, debrusk only wants a long term deal, rask wants more than we think he does etc etc. I want fall back plan cap space so that we arent the toronto maple leafs having to choose between not having a dcorp or trading a 23 year old winger for less than value because they are strapped for cap.

Well i would just sign chara and krug, give Bjork a reasonable deal (knock 500K off what you have), and find a way to ditch Moore, even if there’s a price to doing that. Easy. Done.

so you think d pairings would be:

Chara - mcavoy
grz - carlo
vaak/zboril - lauzon

thats a possibility. As i keep saying i hope they dont bring chara back due to age and speed.

I do think big Z re-signs. And i’m ok with the D lineup.
