RNH will cost more than that and god no we don't want niemi! Not to mention the lines are a disaster.

What do you think would have to be added to the RNH trade to get that done?

Niemi would just be a stop gap. Talent wise Mason has a slight edge and a better contact, but gambling on an underperforming Nichushkin makes the deal worth it. Niemi would split time Nuevy this season unless one ran away with the job. Both Stolie and Lyon spend this year in LV, than one of them takes over as backup next year before taking over full time when Niemi's contact expiries.

As for the lines I prefer them to be balanced. Each of the top 3 lines have 2 good players to go along with 1 decent player. Only line I'm not sure about would be the 2nd line since it's a completely new line. Maybe Couts and RNH could play on a line together for Team NA to gain some chemistry.

There is just really nothing I like about this team. Niemi is a plug and we don't need that cap hit for 2 more years. We just ride out this year with Mason and then sign Neuvirth as the starter to a $3.5-$4 mil per contract and Lyon as the backup. Stolarz likely will never be an NHL goalie. RNH is overpaid for what he has shown so far and Nichuskin is the typical Russian who either gets his way or goes to the KHL.

All the Flyers really need is a good RHD (Trouba would be great) and a 2nd line scoring winger.

I disagree with you on Stolarz. I don't think he'll be a superstar but he has the talent to be a solid goalie and he has the one thing you cant teach... Size. Now Lyon I'm not sure about him becoming a regular NHL goalie since I haven't seen him play live, so I can't really have an opinion on him. I do think that Carter Hart is our future #1 tho

I agree that RNH is over played (by about 1.5 mil a year) and being that he still has 5 years left on his contract really hurts his value. Could he turn into a 6 mil a year player? Sure he could. He would be that top 6 forward that Hexy's been looking for. I think that he would benefit from playing wing instead of center since he wouldn't have as much defensive responsibility as a winger so he could play more freely in the offensive zone.

As for Nichushkin he's someone i'd be willing to take a chance on. I really liked him at the draft and at the time I hoped he would have fallen to us. I think all he needs is a change of scenery, consistent playing time and knowing that if he makes a mistake his playing time isn't going to be cut. Maybe he could be our make up for trading JVR.

I watched Stolarz in London, he has never really been that good of a goalie.
We have spent way too much time turning Cs into Ws and RNH would just be another one of those. He is also soft and that doesn't go well with our style of play.
We have 5 solid top 6 forwards and if Konecny can turn out as a 2C then we can move Couts down to the 3rd as a shutdown guy.
So in my vision I see the lines like this in a couple years: Schenn/Giroux/Simmonds UFA Scorer/Konecny/Voracek Laughton/Couts/ Weise UFA/Cousins/UFA
I want to see Laughton on the 2nd line for a trial period this year to see if he can be the scorer we need but I think his game is more suited as a shutdown guy on the 3rd line.

If we can move Read's contract this year, and maybe Streit at the deadline or just wait him out this year we should have lots of money to re-sign Ghost and maybe sign or acquire a RHD and a scoring UFA.

I've seen him play many times at the PPL center. We'll just have to agree to disagree on him.
The same thing goes with every other team in the league with converting centers into wingers. Yeah RNH is soft but not everyone is Tarzan, every team has a few Janes.

I see your future lines as realistic, but still not a Cup worthy roster. Top 2 lines are nice, but 3rd and 4th are huge ?'s. I don't think Laughton is gonna turn into a top 6 forward. 3rd line at the very best. Cousins in my opinion has more upside than Laughton.

Getting rid of Read should be of high priority for Hexy this season. Get whatever draft pick or expiring contract you can get for him. I know it's a pipe dream but than hopefully Vegas takes Macdonald in the expansion draft.

We are going to have to buy-out MacDonald, Vegas isn't touching that ****.

If we get a scoring winger and a rhd we should be contenders in 2 years as long as Provorov and morin turn out.
