Description
Saw the Dallas deal on a Dallas post and wanted to see the other side. I think it is a really good deal for the pens, fills a couple of big needs for next year.

exactly this. Your assumption is that his value is low pre draft because "Seattle will take him"
    But this is false.
1st off, the deal will be done far before there is ever a draft. No team is going to put themselves in that position.
2nd, if they don't have a deal they move him ahead of time.

You can bet before puck even drops next season, that Seattle already has a few deals done.
Teams aren't waiting to make these deals at the draft.
They are done months in advance, possibly over a year.

Exactly. That was the issue with pens and fleury. When fleury was struggling pens already inked a deal that would send fleury + a 2nd to Vegas. Then he had the incredible 2017 post season run so at that time, pens shouldn’t have had to PAY Vegas to take fleury. But, the deal was done far in advanced

There are teams desperate for centre depth though like minny and buffalo. He could regain form in a new environment. He was very solid for Florida. Injuries plagued his Pittsburgh tenure

Buffalo is desperate for a 2C that can be counted on for 50 + points. They can play Cozens or Johannson at 3C. If they were to acquire Bjugstad that would be to play on third line RW or 4th line center. Again not worth a 4.1 million contract. Minnesota has Erikkson Ek to play 3C shutdown role and offer 30-40 points and Staal for 2C. They are desperate for a first center which they would not be getting in Bjugstad so I don't see the value there unless they are getting something else in return or you are taking salary back

He has one year left and he has gotten 50 points in the past. Teams will take him. He doesn’t carry much value but teams will take a gamble on him for one year. Injuries hurt him this year but he will be okay. Pens will move him out
