Brodie is better than Josi on the even strength and defensively. Yes Neal is much better than Backlund, but I actually feel that Backlund fits a need as a 2nd line center. They can trade Ribeiro for another RW.

Even a salary retained Wideman has little value, the guy is a marked man after that ref incident. More value from the Flames with swapping Wideman out for something else

It's a contract year and Wideman has proven he can do well, so at 2.625 mill a year, Wideman would be excellent running the powerplay for Nashville. And there isn't much risk.
