Well, Kuhnhackl went right to the dog house in favor of MDC after that Vancouver game. Komarov is only playing currently due to the Cizikas injury. My feeling with Dobson getting less minutes than Boychuk is that Dobson's mistakes are more fixable in his age compared to Boychuk's. Sitting him on and off enables him at his age to watch and process. I will say this, he did look more comfortable on his natural side with Greene.

Kuhnhackl was scored on 3 times in 7 min of ice time against Vancouver, it took that bad of a showing to get him out of the lineup. Still played 28 games, but it is what it is. I don’t know what trotz sees in him.

I get what you’re saying with Dobson, and I guess I can agree at the beginning of the season it was fine to have sit here and there, but there were a bunch of games that Dobson played in where after you thought he deserved to be rewarded with more ice time. That never happened, and that’s my one issue with trotz. He doesn’t reward accomplishment with advancement (prospects) . He looked great on his strong side during those last 3 games - the isles would have never gotten a point against CAR or VAN without him in the lineup. He had 2 assists and I think he was a +4.

We have enough vets and leadership in the lineup, the isles can afford to add a few kids. Boychuk, komarov, and kuhnhackl make mistakes every single game and they provide little to no value. The kids will make mistakes, but at least they contribute to winning hockey games.

Completely disagree. Lead to the capitals trading Bura and letting Vegas draft Schmidt. Cost us 2 series vs the penguins. Played mike Webber over Schmidt

Burakovsky was traded in 2019. That had nothing to do with Trotz.
Also, you guys don't need Schmidt. He's making too much AAV in a non-income taxed area and has a PED record.
Also, nobody was beating the Pens in 2016 and 2017.

He was consistently benched and was on the 4th line w trotz. So was Vrana till an injury happened. We don’t need Schmidt? A top pairing dman? Yeah we do. Could have also signed him long term early. Capitals out shot the Penguins in most of those games. Capitals didn’t play their best line up bc of trotz arrogance

You think that was the only time Schmidt did PEDs? Burakovsky deserved to be on the 4th early on. He didn't have discipline in his game. I'd have done the same thing.

Trotz killed Burakovsky’s confidence. He would put 4th line anchors in the top 6 and allow them to make mistakes. Burakovsky was always the scapegoat.

It took a backstrom injury and Tom Wilson suspension for trotz to put vrana in the top 6 during the cup run. It’s well known that there was friction between vrana and trotz. Its always with the young guys...he has a double standard with vets.

Even in Nashville , trotz refused to play filip forsberg more than 6 -7 min a night, and he was on a line with 2 4th line plugs. The GM had to send him back to the AHL because it wasn’t good for his development. Trotz was fired, the next season forsberg puts up 60 pts.

Great coach, great guy, but there’s no way to justify the way trotz handles young players.

The only reason players like barzal and beauvillier weren’t given the same treatment is because they were top 6 players before trotz arrived - what was he going to do, put a guy that just came off an 85 pt season on the 4th line ? Lol but I doubt beauvillier would be in the top 6 right now if he had to go through trotz first.
