Would much rather keep Engvall then Johnsson. He is only 23 and already our 2nd best penalty killer. Great bottom-6 forward especially on that contract.

Totally agree, Engvall fits the Bottom 6 role much better. Johnsson's Hip surgery is the big factor here, he has little to no value until he starts playing games again. I feel Engvall will get the Leafs more value right now because he played well last season (especially first half) where as teams don't want to give assets for a recently injured Johnsson

That is entirely what Leaf Trolls on here say. A player that is young, has speed to burn and skill has value. He won't be given away for nothing. Johnsson was a 7th round pick entirely because he had diagnosed asthma and ever since that was found he's been a top player. Was an allstar in Sweden and then was the MVP of a championship team in the AHL. He isn't a nobody, just trolls who automatically take everything to do with this team call him a depth forward who has never accomplished anything. He has a proven track record of being a very good player. Lots of teams would want him.

Currently you either keep him on the team anywhere in the Top 9 Forwards (which is my suggestion) or get a Mid-Tier Prospect or Close to a 2nd Round Pick in return and shed his cap space. His value is not high enough to look for an upgrade player that's just not going to happen lmao, the Leafs would have to package a 1st Rounder or Prospect along with Johnsson to upgrade to anything impactful.

I agree, getting a decent prospect or a something close to a 2nd is what I think will happen.
