Description
*LINEUP IS NOT ACCURATE*

1) Sign key RFAs: Evans, Mete, Domi, etc..
2) Trade for RW that bring size (Anderson)
3) Pittsburgh reportedly can't keep Jarry AND Murray. They Trade Jarry to MTL. This solves the backup problem and gives Claude Julien the power of a better Price load management. Sign Jarry to a prove it deal.
4) Trade Tatar to Colorado to help their win now situation. Get a stable LHD in Graves (Bowen Byram coming soon) and a late first for Tatar and a early 2nd. Retain 50% of Tatar last contract year. Sign Graves to a bridge deal.
5) Minor depth trades could also be possible (Weal, Kulak) for cap relief.
6) Juulsen is the third RHD here, but could also be Fleury.

If the idea is to make a move to help Colorado win now then we should just keep Graves. He helps us win now too ya know!

Giving up a cost-controlled young top 4D and our 1st for 1 year of Tatar isn't worth it for us. I would rather try to find a way to add a 2nd line winger with the pieces we have available (i.e. Zadorov, Jost, futures), or alternatively just simply resign Namestnikov who has done very well since the deadline (6 points in 9 games) and also has a track record of producing when playing with top players, as he did with 44 points in 62 games (58 point pace) at Tampa in 17/18.

As for the Jarry trade, why exactly are Montreal acquiring another starter when they have Price? Makes no sense.

Very interesting! I know that Graves is a good player for COL. But with Byram coming as a LHD and with their need of a top 6 forward, I was seeing a match here.

Tatar would surely sign an extension, at his age, most definitely team-friendly deal, with Colorado being one of the best NHL team in a clear win-now window. Surely Tatar>Namestnikov, but Namestnikov is a nice option too.

In this Trade, Jarry can be seen as a B-Starter. Backup goalies has been a problem here for a while. I wanted a goaltender that would share the load more and give Price breaks more often. A comparison can be made with Rask and Halak, Halak being a "deluxe" backup.

Very interesting take tho thanks for your comment!

Thanks for your thoughtful reply!

Graves to Montreal makes sense from the perspective that we have an abundance of LHD, but I think we'll be loathe to moving Graves until Byram actually shows that he's a top 4 Dman in the NHL.

Tatar would be an awesome setup man for Burakovsky, but I don't think Sakic is going to pay premium assets for a pure rental. What do you think Tatar's next contract will be?

Interesting idea with a deluxe backup. Jarry could be expensive as a backup though, meaning that you would have an awful lot of money tied into two goalies.
