Why would either team want this?

to be fair, assuming Oils pick in 1st is atleast in the 20s, lets say it ends up being 22nd

once you reach that point in the draft the comparisons between the 20s and 2nd rounders they are pretty close in value and odds of success, so to trade one pick to get 3 a little further down to take a more shotgun approach to the draft and increase your odds of hitting a stud (especially since Oilers will need a continuing pipeline of young cheap wingers) this isn't a bad idea for Oilers if there is not a sure fire prospect available at their pick

I would say if Holland wants to move down in the draft, it will be for an earlier 2nd rounder and a late 2nd.

Holland said he wanted to trade down to acquire more picks and Melnyk and Dorion both said they wouldn't use all their picks they want to move up. The picks might not be exact but this is a good match for a trade.
