Description
Obviously don't know what the situation is with Buff. Is he healthy? Does he want to come back? Who knows.

I do know if he did come back to his old form, there are connections with old teammates Chariot and Armia who could maybe convince him to join the habs. Chariot in particular loves playing in MTL and was Byfuglien's D partner for much of his last season with the Jets.

Byfuglien's size and versatility would be pretty valuable. He could play forward with Domi and Drouin to make a pretty solid line, or he could pair up with Chariot to help the defence.

D lines could be:
Romanov - Petry
Mete - Weber
Chariot - Byfuglien

He’s retiring. He loved Winnipeg. His family loved Winnipeg. He just doesn’t want to play hockey anymore. He wasn’t to go ice fishing, hunting and enjoy retirement with his family. If he still wanted to play hockey, he would play for 7.6 mill in Winnipeg, not less somewhere else

He only had $6M of actually $$$ left on his contract, even though his cap hit was $7.6M. And I know this was just for fun.

You do NOT Mutually Terminate to Retire
Its like Quiting at your retirement party .......

I cant believe i had to say that out loud to a hockey fan

Byfluglien went through Rebuild in ATL , Rebuild in WPG and when they triggered a Rebuild last year Byfluglien had no interest in playing for them
He Mutually Terminated so his contract didnt effect him getting a chance to play somewhere else.
He could have left like Kovalchuk forcing a buyout leaving LAK stuck with 6.25m cap this and next year

Instead Byfluglien didnt hinder WPG any choosing to leave guaranteed money on the table
This says he's confident enough that he'll play again just like Kovalchuk despite all the nay sayers

IMO Byfluglien ends up in CHI playing with Kane and Toews again
but there's a lot of contenders that would love to add what he brings without the huge contract attached

In no way did the jets trigger a rebuild last year.
