i actually think tampa says no. sergachev is a valuable d-man and worth more than romanov and a first. they have expendable players with huge contracts i.e. killorn, johnson, gourde who all make around 5 million and they would rather trade mcdonough and get value for him like picks to then create cap and resign sergachev

I still say to go the Offer Sheet way with Sergachev.
Throw the kitchen sink at him for 7 years contract (ie. 7-9M/year) and make it impossible for TBL to sign.
yes the Habs will have to give up 4 first-rounders most likely but its money and draft picks well spent.

TB would absolutely say yes. They would be getting Romanov on an ELC and saving a ton on the cap. They would be getting a top 10 pick in addition to this.

Gourde, Johnson, and McDonough all have full NTC or NMC. They will not be traded.

This is a huge win for TB considering the situation they find themselves in.

For MTL this is Sergachev for Drouin all over again, and I agree with the other poster who said this would get Bergevin fired.

- Sergachev 1 pt in 7 WJC games.
- Romanov 15 pts in 14 WJC games, including 2019 Top Dman and 2020 1st allstar team.

Byron needs to come back and e healthy for a bit before he gets value and when that happens with will be more value then that.

That's a bad trade for MTL. Romanov will be cheaper and possibly end up just as good as Serg, plus you're giving up a top 10 pick with him, is just an incredible over value
