Anisimov Is good, and only under contract for one more season. Rask is terrible, and under contract for longer. Horrible for Ottawa.

Well considering how Melnyk is, saving some money might sound good and they can expose Rask in the expansion draft.

Yeah they could expose him, but that doesn't mean Seattle would take him, at least not without getting some sort of compensation in return. At that point Ottawa has effectively traded Anisimov AND a pick to have Victor Rask for one season.

Also in terms of it being a cash based deal, Ottawa ends up paying way more to Rask than Anisimov. Arty has only one season left, and is only owed 3mil, whereas Rask has two year left, making 4mil each year.

Victor Rask is possibly the worst player in the league in terms of value. I suspect he will just be buried or bought out.
