Kucherov not a good example to compare with marner. U want someone from the same draft period Mikko Rantanen is that guy and making 9.25m x 6 with an 80point season is the best comparable. Marner should have got 8.93 for 6 years. He gets money, he gets the term he wants and toronto has a little extra to spend. Marner wanted to be a UFA at the end of his deal and Dubas did not want to go through a long negotiation like nylander so just signed him. If I was Dubas I would have offered 8.93m for 6 and held he didnt sign to bad go play in europe or get traded/offersheeted we would take those firsts ez and trade for some defense
