Description
Thorburn and Stuart retire and take on roles within the organization. Vancouver wants to get bigger on D while also adding Dano who can play up and down in the line up and could potentially be the LW they're looking for. Myers provides more offence for Van from the blue line while Tanev provides better D for the Jets as well as allowing Trouba to move over to the right side and play with a better partner in Enstrom as well as get powerplay time. This move also reunites the Tanev brothers.

With adding Laine and Connor to the team, the power play is much better and both units will seemingly score at will. The PK is greatly improved and Winnipeg is a much better all around team.

Expansion protects are:
Trouba, Buff, Tanev, Enstrom, Schiefele, Wheeler, Little, Perrault, and Hellebuyck.

not an overpayment in the slightest! Chris Tanev is very much so a prototypical stay at home defenceman. His underlaying numbers are very good. Point totals are decent and is very reliable defensively. The trade makes sense IF the Trouba pans out which I think a lot of people are on board with. The Jets need to make Trouba the #2 RHD because that's his natural side and I believe that might be one of the stalling points with his contract negotiations is that he wants to play on the right side again with a better partner than stuart. I suggest looking up Chris Tanevs' underlaying numbers because he's better than Myers as a defenceman!

IMO, I think most people are a little confused about the Jets Defense. Trouba will likely take regular minutes on the right side at the beginning of games

Buff gets 1st PP time (with Ehlers on the point) Trouba Myers get 2nd. Trouba and Myers will work PK1
As games get tighter Trouba will switch sides and play left side with Buff or Myers effectively 'shortening the bench')
They will all get the 21-23 minutes a night avg while keeping them fresh for the entire season. When Buff is rolling tho ya gotta let the big man run!
The really challenge here is depth when there is an injury.I'm excited for Morrisey this year, Poolman next and Jets have many young high end forward prospects to deal for someone like Brendan Smith or the glut of LD in Philly. I would personally love to see a Trouba for Hampus Lindholm straight up. Or try and get Landeskog for Trouba!

Trouba for Lindholm straight up I think would be the most ideal thing for the Jets but probably NOT for the Ducks. The ducks want to keep lindholm and move Fowler but we'll see what happens. Don't think the jets will do anything other than sign Trouba as that's the Chevy montra (no trades just draft develop).
As for Morrisey I totally agree and hope he can make the Jump to the jets. Poolman I'm not so sure on, I think he's going to pull a Vesey unfortunately. I don't think Trouba for Landeskog makes sense as you said it yourself, we have a glut of FWD talent we need true LHD. I do think that your idea of how the D will be run is probably pretty accurate but I think I'd like to just see Trouba Buff/ Enstrom Myers run as the 1-2 pairing and then Morrisey Chiarot/Postma as the third pairing. Either way going to be an interesting season for the jets all around!

Oh boy 92 would look good in Jet blue.

They would have to go out and get a top 4 dman for certain

I'm a stats guy. He doesn't push play up the ice well. Scores why less than Myers. Look at the jets forwards you want dmen that pushes play up ice to them. Tanev is great but he isn't the type of dman that plays to the jets strengths. So please go look up some stats and maybe think about the type of play the jets forward is leading them to play. Same way the pens play attacking all the time. Defend as little as possible and always push play up the ice.

Not sure why Arizona would want Pavelec.
