Saying if Johnson didnt waive his NTC then.
Rather than Johnson going to AHL, he would likely get claimed off waivers without giving up assets to acquire if a team wanted him.

Like Dallas.

Of course this will happen but if Johnson doesnt waive is clause he doesn’t choose where he end up. So team rank from 31-1 would have right in order to select him without giving some assets. At least if he waive is clause he can choose where he want to go

I understand your point. The thing with an offersheet as well is the player has to be willing to sign it. Maybe they do that but the trends say it rare that it happens. Going to be an interesting off season no matter what.

Yes but if tampa offer 4 millions to sergachev then a team like detroit come up with a 8 millions offer he will probably accept it. But i agree it will be one of the most interesting offseason in the past few year for sure. And all around the league.

It would not 31-1 team though.
The team had to be able to afford him.

I only arguing the point that because of full NTC, Johnson wont be in the AHL.

No because he still able to play in nhl, but he could play in ahl with a Ntc. That only provide him to chosse is destination, not block movement.

And the way waivers work is that detroit who are ranked 31 are the first to pick players of waivers, then the 30 ranked team can select him if detroit pass on him and that goes on until the first ranked team. So i wasn’t referring to 31 team would try to acquire him. A team ranked 15 overall couldn’t pick him of the waivers until the 16 other team behind team would pass on him

Why wouldn't he play for Yzerman???
Isn't he the one that signed him to that deal?

Yes he was sign by Yzerman and he would probably accept a trade to Detroit. He had success with Yzerman before.

I understand the point that TB can get out from under bad deals, but I will cost you.

Take Wings deal, you expect them to take on an older winger on a 5 million cap hit and give up a 21 year old prospect and a pick. Very unrealistic. No team rebuilding is trading a 21 year old prospect and a pick for a 30 year old player with 4 years left at 5 million each year.

Same goes for Carolina. Toronto deal is interesting but not sure Leafs can pay Cernak what he wants and TL is still cost controlled.

Tampa to get out of cap hell will need to give more than they get, not get equal.value.
