You aren't understanding that the team they have on the ice isn't a fringe playoff team. It's the division they are in that makes them look like that. One cup contender is going to miss the playoffs from the Metro, that doesn't make them a fringe playoff team.

So if you miss the playoffs are you still a playoff team because you would have been 5 points clear in the Central? No, at that point you're a non-playoff team.

That makes you a playoff calibre team yes.
