Everybody repeat, the Avs aren’t trading for Price. They sure as hell aren’t trading Byram and Newhook. Why would they want a 32yo goal tender that is owed another $63M over the next 6 years who has that is 35th in save percentage, 30th in GAA.

Because Price is still a top 5 goalie in the league for the next 5 years and the Avs have tons of room. The back end up his contract will be brutal and granted it's not great even now but you know what makes that easier to swallow, a cup ring.

No its absurd to trade for an injury prone worse goalie (outside his prime) for triple the pay while giving up you 2 best prospects

Ok first, Price isn’t a top 5 goalie, hasn’t been for several years. Second when has price ever shown he was clutch in the playoffs? Third Grubauer & Francouz are better goalies than Price right now and cost a fraction combined what Price is owed. Fourth, Price’s contract is BRUTAL now and nobody will take it. Fifth, when are the Avs going to have the chance to draft prospects like Byram who will be in the NHL next year. And 6 through infinity - Price’s contract is like Herpes nobody wants to acquire it.

I'm completely agreeing with Price's contract being bad and way too long, not much to argue there. But you can't seriously tell me at, least for the next 3 years, you think Grubauer and Francouz are better goalies than Carey Price... Come on I know you think this proposal is bad and giving up Byram (who has not looked great since being drafted by the way) might be too much but the Avs get substantially better right now if Price is their goalie.

Yes I seriously can. Price last 3 years .900, .918, .912, GAA 3.11, 2.49, 2.73 hasn’t back stopped a team to the playoffs in that time frame. Sure he was a great goalie 4 YEARS ago. Bro please Byram hasn’t looked good? Why because he hasn’t scored as many points? Or is it that he has a mandate from the Avs to work on his defense. IMO he was Canada’s best all around D at WJC. And finally the Avs get substantially worse with Price, how do you not acknowledge he is 32nd and now 28th in SV%, and GAA. And did I mention his contract sucks. So explain to me how the Avs get better right now? By getting rid of cap space on a substandard goalie? The Avs wouldn’t trade for Carey Price if it only took them a mid round pick that’s how bad his contract sucks.
