Mode - plafond salarial: Basique

1. MTL can not rebuild with the core they have. Price, Weber, Petry and Chiarot are playing well and want to win a cup now. So we have to be contenders asap or at least be good enough to make the playoffs for the next 4-5 years.

2.DO NOT TRADE TATAR ! He is making points now and scoring goals, why should we trade him when we finally might have a 30+ goal scorer.
3. DO NOT TRADE Petry. Yes Romanov is a good prospect, as Brook and Fleury, but no one is at Petry's level and could replace him right now. You need him if you want to make it to the playoffs and compete.

4. Kovalchuk... He has never been in MTL's plan, he is here because of the injuries so when Gally, Drouin and Byron are back he wont have his place in the top 6. With that being said, it would be very good if MTL could get a 3-4 round pick for him and who knows maybe sign him during the summer if he wants to return. I am sure a goal scorer like him with a 700K cap space could help a playoff team.

5. Making a Thomson trade like the one with Plekanec and giving him a chance for the cup.

6. With the young defenders coming, Scandella must move out. I think the reason Fleury is in the stands is that Julien wants Kulak and Scandella to have ice time fo other teams to look at them.

I think Bergevin will listen to offers, but will not shop around his players exept for Kovy, Thomson and Scandella. The core should stay the same unless he is big big winner on a trade involving one of Tatar or Petry and small winner a Kulak/ Byron/ Mete trade.

Another scenario would be sending back KK and Poehling to Laval who are in a race for the playoffs and giving them a better chance. For the 2 players a playoff experience and confidence would be great after a not so good season in MTL.
