This is a very fair trade in terms of value but I do not think the rangers would part with Skjei.

The reason is because our leftside is pretty thin and Skjei is our best LHD. I just have a hard time believing that NYR are ready to move on from Skjei just yet.

What if you swap Bean with Bokk?

I certainly think it would make it more enticing for the rangers, the rangers are at a point where they want quality prospects over draft picks.

I would be more inclined to have it something look like this,

Whether that gets done, i am not sure but just a thought and you get to keep your 1st for the year.

It's more of that they don't have any LHD to fill the void on the top that'll be left by skjei. Lindgren/Hajek/Rykov aren't ready for that and in no way do we want Staal/Smith in that spot. Also, they're not going to want to throw Miller or Lindgren into a role they aren't prepared for next year.

Bokk+conditional pick on resigning is definitely the target for just kreider.

I think McGinn and TVR are pretty worthless to the rangers and I would be okay with taking them out (as well as at least one 2nd rounder) and adding bean.. It just depends on how much carolina values bean (i'm also not sure how "all in" they are right now) but bokk>bean.

On a side note, i don't think skjei would be the target for carolina unless they had an overpayment come in for Gardiner, even with Dougie out long term. They'll go for another right hand shot which from the rangers would be ADA (or even possibly Trouba) and the price for either of them is much greater than the price for Skjei

No, if I am NYR, I would do it. Deangelo is used to playing the left side from his days in Sarnia. Deangelo-Trouba is a fine top pairing. There's no law ruling that left handed defensemen are only allowed to play the left side. NYR have young prospects who will mature in the coming seasons to play the left side (as you mentioned Rykov, Hajek, and soon K'Andre Miller). NYR will also likely pick somewhere around 10th overall in the upcoming draft, a perfect spot to draft one of the many solid LHD in the draft. If NYR is getting Bokk, a first and two seconds, all while shedding salary (which they need to do somehow going forward), then this is a very good deal for them. Maybe instead of TVR, Rangers retain half of Kreider's salary and Canes add a prospect they are willing to part with that shows some upside.

I really like the MN trade. Losing Staal would suck but we need picks and this would be a way to get one without completely ruining our center depth.
