Already shared my thoughts earlier around trading both Crow and Lehner leaving the Hawks with no goaltenders in the summer doesn't make a lot of sense.

That said, if all Gus is worth at this point is a 3rd then he'll be cheap to re-sign so we should just re-sign him given the uncertain future of Seabs and De Haan.

I don't see TOR going for that. Take out bracco and it is more fair. Kap is worth a 1st or 2nd which is about what renting Crow is worth. Nylander is not worth Bracco and a 2nd.

Saad is worth a 1st alone at least but this is a very late 1st rounder. Taking on chucky who is no more then a cap dump rental, we'd have to flip him for a 3rd rounder for this to be attractive. Pit should be running to take this as is and likely would in a heartbeat, but don't see the reason we should; Pit should throw in a B+ prospect or a 3rd rounder.

Lehner may resign if he really likes it here. There is no indication that either will resign as of now, what if they both walk for nothing?

Why resign Gus when the hawks will need to give Boqvist a bigger role next season? De Haan will be ready for next season, Seabrook is unlikely. With Beaudin and Mitchell looking to take the next step, Gustafsson becomes expendable. He may very well get more, it depends on how the market shakes up.

There are few contending teams actually able to to afford Saad and slot him into the line up. Boston, Pittsburgh and Edmonton would be good fits. They'd also be fits for Kreider as well. Pittsburgh probably could add a 3rd in this deal. It's tough to evaluate these values so early in the season.

Hawks should be working on an extension for Lehner. He has said over and over again he loves Chicago and the guy wears his heart on this sleeve so highly doubt he is BSing when he says that. However, if we trade him at the deadline, whether he likes it here or not, he will demand a lot more.

De Haan has now had 5 shoulder surgeries, he's not someone we can count on returning and even if he does, there's a good chance he injures it again. Beaudin is not ready, not a chance he comes up next year. Gus hands down is playing better then Boqvist as of now....that will change in time but as of now Gus is the better player.

Colorado is another team that would love Saad. In fact, basically every playoff team would benefit with Saad which is why alone he's worth a 1st and then some. If Hartman and E Kane got the return they did, it is easily conceivable that Saad would demand a 1st and 3rd on his own for a team that is looking like strong contenders for the next 2 years.

Gus is the better player which is all the more reason to trade him. Hawks need to tank for this rebuild. Fire Bowman and Colliton and get a GM with balls enough to make the rebuilding moves needed.
