my reasoning for this move was because Kap hasn't found his niche on this team. Simmonds adds grit which is lacking. Vatanen is an upgrade to Ceci IMO. Domingue (when healthy) will hopefully be the solution to the backup issues eben though Hutch played well against Det. Financially the Leafs free up space after this season by trading Kap who is expendable and replaceable.

Simmonds- over the hill ufa that would make spezza look fast

Vatanen- marginal upgrade on ceci

Domingue- sure the Growlers will be happy to have him.

So in the end Toronto loses a young talented winger with years of control and second round pick and has nothing to show for it.
