Crawford and Nylander don’t really interest me. 4 out of Crawford’s last five starts he has posted a sub .900 save percentage so that isn’t very encouraging. Nylander is likely a bust imo and has less value than Chmelevski does potential.

I don’t necessarily disagree, but I think some things need to be put in context. Crawford’s last 4 starts have been behind a defense that’s missing Keith, and for a few of those games De Haan or Maatta as well, so we had at least 2 of Gilbert/Koekkoek/Boqvist starting. Crow isn’t an elite goalie anymore, but he is a starter, and with a better defense in front of him I would argue he is a good amount better than Jones and Dell. He’s also on an expiring deal so it’s not like it’s a big commitment.

My thought with this trade is that if (maybe miraculously) start pushing for a playoff spot, this gives them a goalie that is more reliable than anything they have, and prospect who maybe is a downgrade from Chmelevski, but is NHL ready and can play in their top 9. (Nylander gets a worse rap than he deserves, he isn’t a bad player just not a top line guy)
