It's one thing for the penguins to spend money on the 3rd pair when they have guys on rookie deals.
It's another when they don't.
MP gets paid next year. Marino will get paid the year after.
They will end up in cap problems doing this and for a 3rd pairing guy.
I just don't see them doing that.
Marino is a guy who can swallow minutes and so is Letang. That 3rd pairing guy is probably going to be out there 13 minutes a night.
4 million for that. I don't see them doing that. Especially if they are already spending 3+ on the other 3rd pairing spot. A contract I think they would like to move because it's a lot to spend on a 3rd pairing guy.
Something tells me come the offseason, they work over drive to make that trade. Having a better year may help them do that combined with there being one less year on that contract.
