That trade is a no with out NJD adding their first. Why would they trade their first right now in any capacity let alone for the package Pitt is sending them

Galchenyuk would be flipped. Probably for two high picks or a pick n prospect. That would give the Devils 3 possibly 4 high picks and Murray for UFA Hall. That's not a bad haul for Hall and a pick. It satisfies the Devils longterm need in the pipes with the two time cup winner. If anything I thought someone would criticize the Senators deal. might be light.

Yeah, no way a bottom feeder team gives up their own 1st round pick unless they are getting a young star that you would be getting with those picks (ex: if Vancouver suddenly decided to be stupid and trade Q. Hughes). That should be pretty obvious.

Matt Murray has been a .911 goalie over the last three years. League average basically with consistency issues. He also will be getting a large contract as an RFA because of those cup wins. So you are taking on a lot of risk and are committing a big contract.

Taking that potential top five pick and then flipping it for a Pageau rental is also insane.
