As long as he gets throat punched before jumping off the diving board, he will be good.

Yes and next time he swing a stick at a shark the punch will actually land and he will fly back 30 feet. Hes either a massive ***** or a bad diver....

I know youve probably never been in a physical altercation before, but getting throat punched, F*ckin hurts.

That punch was super hard too and definitely landed flush even with all his padding, mask and thorntons glove being covered in padding. I’m surprised Mrazek could finish the game after that absolutely devastating blow.

tears of joy You just confirmed that you've never been in an altercation before xD

So we are just going to pretend like CTE doesnt exist just because they are wearing padding? tears of joy

To me it wasn't even that Mrazek went down. I fully believe he was just shocked (not prepared to receive a punch) that Jumbo threw that jab. It's pretty rare a skater punches a goalie in the face. I know it wasn't a Hey maker, but that jab had some force to it. I'm a little surprised with Mrazek's head shaking that's more a concussion reaction than throat reaction (I believe...I have NOT been full on throat punched). I heard someone else say that the length of time he was down on the ice was surprising, but that probably just going through the motions of getting himself together. No urgency to get back up really.

Mrazek was solid in net last night. Give credit where it's due. I'm a critic of his generally.

@Bill_Karsen i am generally a HUGE fan of trolling on here, god knows, there is enough material for a troll to stay busy all day long. I did enjoy your attempt at comedy as well.

However, isn’t the point we are all missing here that Joe Thornton, one of the best hockey players ever and a sure fire hall of famer, getting into an altercation with a Goalie? WTF is he doing?

I was at the game last night, and my opinion - Canes lose that game if Thornton doesn’t fire up the crowd. Petr fed off the energy after that. He just skates away (after taking a swipe at a frozen puck BTW) and we are likely losing that game.

When I watch it, it looks like a throat punch to me.. And in my experience, if he actually got hit hard in the throat, it takes a minute or 2 for your breathing to get back to normal. It almost makes you gasp for air like if you were to get hit in the stomach.

I have a soft spot for player injuries, unless it is a clear dive like we have seen before.
