I'd like to thank you all for taking the time to read my ramblings and providing feedback, It's been a pleasure. Now without further ado I'll finish this series.
Let's address the major question here: The expansion draft what do they do? So many decent-amazing players (haven't said that in a while) who should stay and who will go. I used CapFriendlys expansion draft in order to try and figure this out. Those I protected are as follows: McDavid, Draisaitl, Kassian, Fiala, Donato, Yamamoto, and Benson. Then Klefboom, Nurse, Larsson, and Koskinen. Now let me explain. I chose Koskinen over Domingue under the assumption that Koskinen continues to play well, if not then Domingue. On defence I chose Klefboom and Nurse as gimmes, then it was Larsson or Bear. I chose Larsson due to the larger sample size although this may change come draft time. I'm not losing sleep over it though since Bouchard will be ready by now. Now for the forwards, while I think James Neal can score 20+ goals in 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 eventually he has to decline and that's a big contract. Nuge is a UFA and I assumed he and the Oilers will work something out before the draft so that if he is picked, he comes back. yOu cAN't dO tHAt, fine he signs earlier and Donato is left unprotected unless they move Yamamoto. The rest of the forwards I feel is pretty explanatory. So assuming in my perfect world that Nuge, Neal and Bear are available, who does Seattle take. I think it will be Bear unless the Oilers want to throw in a draft pick to get rid of the Neal contract.
Detroit and Minnesota trades 2019-2020
ANH and CGY trades at the 2020 draft
The toughest part is to figure out which prospects will make it when, I think Mcleod should be ready by 2021-2022, Samorunkov and Broberg knocking on the door. Lavoie should be close to ready too. My biggest question is where does Yamamoto fit if at all. In conclusion I wish I was GM, but damn a small part of me is grateful I am not.
