Hmmm maybe. Pearson has been really inconsistent the last couple years, so I wouldn’t be thrilled about adding him. Brassard has played really well the last few games too. But I do like his game and he’s a great player when he’s on.
Rather poach one of the Leafs guys for a Mayfield package though.
He has been on fire ever since he's been in Vancouver. If he look at his stats, the only bad year he had was last year and think about it. First he had a terrible time playing on a bad LA team then he scored at a pace of 16 goals and 26 points on a stacked Pittsburgh team in which he played on the bottom 6. He arrived on the Canucks at the TDL and played primarily on the second line and he scored on a pace of 50 points in a season. Here's a breakdown on the pace of points Pearson has been on each season in which he has played 2nd line minutes.
2013-14- 10 goals, 13 assists, 23 points (Middle 6 minutes)
2013-14 playoffs- 14 goals, 27 assists, 41 points (2nd line)
2014-15- 23 goals, 8 assists, 31 points (2nd and 3rd line)
2015-16- 16 goals, 22 assists, 38 points (2nd line)
2015-16 playoffs- 17 goals, 33 assists, 50 points (2nd line)
2016-17- 25 goals, 21 assists, 46 points (2nd line)
2017-18- 15 goals, 25 assists, 40 points (2nd line)
2018-19- 20 goals, 10 assists, 30 points (2nd and predominantly 3rd line)
2019-20- 14 goals, 21 assists, 35 points (3rd line)
Pearson has always been a consistent 20-25 goal and 40-45 point scorer when playing 2nd line minutes and a consistent 15 goal and 30-35 point scorer when playing 3rd line minutes, so he can definitely play in the top 6 and be a consistent 20 goal scorer for NYI.
