Description
Sure, the money is there to sign a big time UFA defenseman, but that's counterproductive given how many RFA contracts are up after this year. Opted to sign an effective Pysyk to a short term deal, and letting Guhle and Larsson develop.

Moving Getzlaf is an option as well, but is there a point to that move now? Looking at moving Silverberg is more of an option - good player, but see him playing down the line up..... $ 5 million + for a third line winger is not good cap management, but it's a deal that can also be defered.

Long and short: $30 million in cap space moving foward and a damn good young core.

At the rate Miller is playing at, he'll probably be back next year too lol.
Even if he isn't, 3 mil for Greiss seems like a lot. I think with how the goalie market is these days, you can throw a dart at the board and find a decent backup for 2 mil or less. And if Gibson stays healthy this season, he's going to play 60+ games anyways.
I'm not opposed to Pysyk, he's pretty low risk. But Guhle and Larsson are not going to fill in the RD depth. With Mahura, Larsson, Guhle all LD prospects and Fowler and Lindholm the veterans, I see Fowler or Lindholm moved eventually. Fowler being the easier one to replace but harder to trade for fair value. I think going all in on Barrie, Deangelo, or another RD makes sense.

I can agree with that, but for payroll balance, it may mean moving an RFA...... or Silverberg as I have suggested. Larsson and Guhle have potential, but stopped at Pysyk because we know the Ducks have this internal cap thing.

Miller could be back. Again, won't disagree. But looked at Griess simply for worklaod management purposes. Seems a tender playing 60+ games doesn't set up post season success.
