Why with our wealth of young forwards would we want Taylor Hall when for three of those five elements, we could get the player we really need right now -- Brett Pesce?

I know you didn't. The package presented is way too much, especially since it doesn't include at least a partial solution for Anaheim's RD weakness, and substituting one of Steel/Terry for Sprong or Sherwood just makes it worse. Taylor Hall is a luxury. Brett Pesce (not that Carolina is even considering trading him) or an equivalently high-rated top-4 RD is a necessity.

I don't disagree with the trade, but I don't think it makes sense either. We do need goal scoring pretty badly, but we need a RD even more.
