Well most fans tried to use the "oh flames need cap space" argument, but thats no longer a thing. This trade was trash, like horrendously. Brodie is a top 4 defenseman on most (almost all teams), he is the most consistent points producer in the league over the last 3 years (dev of 0.1 over them) and has really good possession metrics.

Right, i got it, as i said i hadnt seen that the signing was made. I was going off of a flames fansite based on what the writer perceived would be value. It isnt some far out suggestion, cap distressed teams are frequently forced into less than ideal situations (the devils received kyle palmieri, easily projected as a nearly perennial 30 goal scorer, for a 2nd and a 3rd). I try to watch all teams but of course i only get to see so much of the flames. What i did see from brodie in recent history was underwhelming. Ive seen a lot of commentary that confirms this

So i thought (incorrectly) it was a cap distressed team, declining player, 4-5 mil cap hit 1 yr until ufa.... hence thinking it would be a worthwhile pickup to bolster depth. Anyway it obviously isnt worth trying to deal for him in the circumstances so i updated it.
